TEP at Queens Pride Parade

Look at all of us 🥰 Hard to believe we really marched in the Queens Pride Parade a little more than two weeks ago! We’re honestly still overwhelmed by all the support and genuinely positive response from many bhoepas in Queens and beyond. Thank you so much.

It took us a while to update as we really needed a moment to rest and sit with the different emotions that were deeply felt this past month. There was our strong desire to be visible and share space with all interested LGBTQIA+ Tibetans in the area. Then the anticipation and buzz of excitement as we started preparations. A little bit of sleeplessness naturally crept in from three weeks of nonstop preparation but that went away quickly once we started marching!

It was truly emotional since this moment had been years in the making for many of us. What an absolute joy to step out as LGBTQIA+ Tibetans. And that too in Jackson Heights! With the experience of taking part in Queens Pride festivities deeply embedded within us, we stay ever more committed to creating spaces for queer individuals of Tibetan heritage to come together. We also realize that visibility means nothing without the guaranteed safety and well-being of each one of our community members. We look forward to sharing space with queer bhoepas from all over very soon.

Thank you so much to our TEP collaborators and volunteers for all their hard work. We’re also appreciative of the bhoepa allies who registered to attend and followed the community guidelines set for the gathering.
